Heirloom White Birdcage Makeover

Hello Ladies!
You all know how much I am addicted to in love with Heirloom White spray paint!  At any given time, you will find me covered in splatters of it, from my face down to my toes!  So today I thought I'd share with you one of my latest transformations, this gorgeous decorative birdcage.
Isn't she pretty?!  I must admit that painting it was no easy fete!  Not to mention the amount of paint that she required!  But, I am oh so happy with the result!  I gave it a bit of distressing for that wonderful "aged over time look", as I like to call it.
And this is what she used to look like when I discovered her while out thrifting!  Very dusty, and very much in need of a makeover!  After giving her a bath (and removing the very dusty faux greenery, which is going right back to the thrift shop!), I think she is much happier with her new look!
I love that you can lift the lid right off, and check out that adorable little front door!  She is quite heavy, weighing it at over 7 pounds!
As much as I love her, I have put her in my Etsy shop, for one lucky person!

And speaking of birds, I thought you might like to see "our" resident eagle!  I snapped this shot in our back yard, which overlooks the Puget Sound.  Mr. Eagle likes to keep a close eye on the water, and his prey!  We have a pair of them that have a nest in a neighbors tree, and we are thrilled that we hear and see them up close and personal every day!.
I'm linking up today's post with White Wednesday, over at Faded Charm. Be sure to visit for tons of inspiration!

wow- Does that look GOOD, Donna. I have one that I have been dreading painting because I know the time and effort it will take...so I have been putting it off - but- after seeing yours-well, guess I will have to tackle it. I think that greenery would look nice right in front of your kitchen window- Bwhahahahaha~ xo Diana

Beautiful birdcage. I have one I used to keep doves in but they had so many babies I had to let them all go before all that cooing drove me nuts. I was wondering what to do with that cage. I was thinking of putting a kid or two in it but painting it white first seems a good idea too.

I am so sorry I got rid of some of my bird cages years ago. What a great makeover Donna, looks fresh and ready for some fun decor. Gorgeous shot there of the Eagle.

You know I have a thing for bird cages and this one is so great. Love the shape and I like it white...with no glitter.
The eagles are just magnificent! How lucky you are to see and hear them every day!
Hope you are having a fun week...freckles and all. Good thing you aren't into green...

How wonderful that you can watch that beautiful eagle every day.

How can you put that cage in your shop???? I'd be keeping that one, for sure!! LOVE it!!
We have Eagles that swoop down over the water and snag fish right in front of the house...it's so awesome! Great picture Donna.

I love the transformation! I found a similar birdhouse that i am going to paint up in heirloom white, and seeing yours look so good gives me the go-ahead to do it. I just need to make a trip to the store to buy some more paint!

Holy cow-a bald eagle in your back yard????? now that's cool.
And that birdcage...I'm laughing at how you said it wasn't easy to paint, as that was the first thing I thought of!! It sure came out a heck of a lot better than what it started with!

I love this birdhouse. It came out great. I bet it was tricky to paint around all the little nooks and crannies. What an amazing shot of your resident eagle. So cool to be able to see that in your backyard. You are so lucky - you go from deer in your backyard to eagles. Wow !!

so nice and interesting blog thanks !Though authentic antique cages are pleasing to the eyes, they are not the best home for your bird.miniature bird cage
Many antique bird cages are treated with chemicals or dyes that can be toxic to your bird.
