Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

A Little Birdie Birthday Card

Hello Ladies!
Is it still hot in your neck of the woods?  Is has been super hot and muggy here most of the summer, so I am actually looking forward to fall!  I have gotten behind on my gardening, 'cause I'm just too much of a wimp to work out in this heat!  So I've been spending lots of time indoors crafting and blogging.  Ok, probably more blogging than I should!  ha!

Thought I would share with you a card I made a few weeks ago for my SIL's birthday.  Of course, I went on over to the Graphic's Fairy for this sweet little bird image.
I just adore these darling little birdies!  So sweet!  I began by making a card from cream cardstock, then added a snippet of vintage sheet music at the bottom.  I really love that look!  I then cut out the bird image with decorative scissors, and of course had to add glitter.  I don't think it would be possible for me to make a card without it!

Next came the fun part....embellishing!  I like adding silk flowers, but it seems like the ones in the papercrafting section of any crafts store are just way over priced! So, I just picked up some stems of silk flowers, then removed all of the petals.  One stem goes a long way!  I used "zots" to adhere them, and added a tiny drop of craft glue to the center, followed by a little rhinestone for some bling!
I finished up by added a pretty sheer ribbon, and tied in a bow.  There you have it! Super easy, super economical!

I am counting down the days til this Friday, as that's the first day of "Michigan's Longest Garage Sale", right here in our area!  I can hardly wait!  Hope you all are having a great day!

Hi! I found you on itsy-bits-and-pieces. I love your card. Isn't the Graphic Fairy just the best? I have done the same thing with flowers from our dollar store. A friend of mine showed me how to stamp them (using a stamp with french writing) and then color them with glimmer mist. So fun!!!

The heat was actually not bad today. It was rather breezy, a warm breeze but better then nothing. Such a sweet card! Wish I could go on that yard sale with you!

I will have to check out the Graphic Fairy's site...I have not been on it before. And it is still really hot in Miami - Aug & Sep are the two hottest months of the year - so we have a ways to go to Fall which is also hot - just not as hot!! :)

Hi Donna, thanks for your comments. Grungeboard is a flexible, bendable and I can't find our how to wreck it product from Tim Holtz / Ranger. I personally love it. You can get plain or different textures. Try google it for better info.
Great idea for the flowers. I just by the cheapies at the dollar store and do that but they aren't silk. Plus I saw a repurpose craft site that make cute flowers from egg cartons. I could see better potential than they showed but the idea is there. my blog has the link Green something. MOST IMPORTANTLY !!! your card is gorgeous!
