Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

The Winter Blues

No, not those kind of blues!  I am talking about the color blue!!
Each of us has a color that makes us feel happy, energized, calm, at peace, whatever.  My special color just happens to be blue, and it's sure to help me chase the winter doldrums away!  I love all shades of blue, and thought I would share with you a few projects that I have been up to lately.

I just added this pair of turquoise mirrors to my Etsy shop.  I think they are so bright and cheery looking!  I mixed up a bunch of different colors til I came up with a shade I was happy with.  I just love playing with paint!!

The mirrors started out life as a boring brown.  So much better now, I think!

I was so excited when I found this cute curvy little vintage corner shelf!  I painted her a pretty aquamarine, another one of my custom blends!
I am lovin' the curves!  She also resides in my Etsy shop.
Of course, I am always on the look out for candlesticks that I can transform.  I really love the shape of these.  After painting them a pretty light blue that I mixed up, they were distressed and glazed for a shabbyliscious look that I so love!!

And you know how much I love mirrors!  I painted this pretty little mirror the same blue as the candlesticks (I call it "French Blue").  I really love the floral design of this piece.

That's it for today ladies!  What do you do to chase away the winter blues?

Love the french blue and the aquamarine too! I used to make lampshades to chase the summer blues(business is slow then), but I usually sit in my sun room on a sunny day with the heater going and read. Perks me right up!

I'm astonished..it's too bad all the Heirloom White has been recalled! No?
Just teasing you, sweetie..I happen to love that gray-blue shade as well, the candlesticks and the pretty flowered mirror rock!

You are so losing your touch. I did not see one speck of glitter anywhere!
Love your blues and the candle stick blue is my fav.

You have great ideas and finds once again.

Color and opening up the shades is what I do to try to wash away the winter blues. Nothing like sun shining in through the window when it is below zero outside.

Donna- You do such a nice job.but Tete, got it right...WHERE is the glitter???..I can tell you are just a blue-loving gal...and I see it when I look to the side and see you in that lovely blue hat! My favorite Aunt loved blue and I think it always reminds me of her. I always think of blue as being a warm and cozy color (although I know it is considered a "cool" color)..and now I will always associate that color with you too...the color of friendship- True Blue! xxoo Diana

reviewing your blog brought back wonderful childhood memories....I grew up in northern wi/mn and we would travel to southern mi to visit my grandparents. My favorite part of the trip was along the shore and OF COURSE mackinac island and the bridge. So wonderful to have that in your backyard!

Donna,
Sorry it has taken me so long to let you know I got your box of goodies. I absolutely LOVE everything. You are so talented. My teen who is in her first year of French has tried to claim everything! I think I will let her put them in her room while she is day dreaming of a school field trip to Paris! Thank you so much for your generosity. {{hugs}}
