Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Heirloom White Birdcage Makeover

Hello Ladies!
You all know how much I am addicted to in love with Heirloom White spray paint!  At any given time, you will find me covered in splatters of it, from my face down to my toes!  So today I thought I'd share with you one of my latest transformations, this gorgeous decorative birdcage.
Isn't she pretty?!  I must admit that painting it was no easy fete!  Not to mention the amount of paint that she required!  But, I am oh so happy with the result!  I gave it a bit of distressing for that wonderful "aged over time look", as I like to call it.
And this is what she used to look like when I discovered her while out thrifting!  Very dusty, and very much in need of a makeover!  After giving her a bath (and removing the very dusty faux greenery, which is going right back to the thrift shop!), I think she is much happier with her new look!
I love that you can lift the lid right off, and check out that adorable little front door!  She is quite heavy, weighing it at over 7 pounds!
As much as I love her, I have put her in my Etsy shop, for one lucky person!

And speaking of birds, I thought you might like to see "our" resident eagle!  I snapped this shot in our back yard, which overlooks the Puget Sound.  Mr. Eagle likes to keep a close eye on the water, and his prey!  We have a pair of them that have a nest in a neighbors tree, and we are thrilled that we hear and see them up close and personal every day!.
I'm linking up today's post with White Wednesday, over at Faded Charm. Be sure to visit for tons of inspiration!

Swans and a Few Blooms

Hi there ladies, hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  the above photos show what the baby swans on our lake looked like back in May.

This is what they looked like in June.

And this is what they look like now!  They are so fun to watch, and they are almost as big as their parents, now!  Not sure if you can see in the background (I didn't notice it until I uploaded the photos), but their is a Schwan ice cream truck in the background.  I don't know if Schwan's are in business where you live, but the logo on the side of their truck is a swan!  How appropriate!
Check out the swan stretching his neck! How funny is that?!

Nothing like the simple pleasures of nature to help forget all  of our worries and cares, even if just for a moment!
Thought I would wrap up this post by sharing a few blooms in our yard.  I love this hibiscus!
We have both pale lavender and white.

I love pink flowers, and I love zinnias, so this is one of my favorites!

One of my friends gave me this hydrangea for my birthday back in May.  I hope I can keep it alive!
This little cherub is watching over our back door!  It was given to me by the same friend, several years ago.  She knows my taste so well!
Here's a closer look.  Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Baby Swans!

I wanted to share with you the most adorable little baby swans that live on our lake!  yes, I know that they are called cygnets, but I think "baby swan" sounds do much cuter, don't you?  I took these pictures last week, when we went for a ride on our pontoon boat.  Now that I am a blogger, I must remind myself to carry my camera around more often!!  I am so glad  I was able to snap these photos!

We had our little cocker spaniel with us.  She loves going out on the boat!  Swimming, not so much!  But she will dutifully do a lap or two around the boat if we tell her to!  Anyway, she was really interested in the swans, but thankfully wasn't barking at them!  Even so, mama & papa swan made it clear that they do not like dogs!  They made hissing sounds the entire time!

I think you can only count 7 babies in the pictures, but when we took a quick trip out on the lake today, we counted 8!  I have never seen them have so many!  They are so darn adorable, and growing really fast!  I wish that I had my camera with me when we went out Memorial Day (before the ginormous storm hit!), because we actually saw 2 of the babies riding on their mother's back!  It was just the sweetest thing ever!

At any rate, I will try and snap some more pictures, so I can keep you updated on their status.  They are really beautiful creatures, and I get so excited  when I see them!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
