Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Chalkboard Obsession!

Hello Ladies,
Hope you have had a great week, I am so ready for the weekend!  How about you?
Do you love chalkboards as much as I do?  I love making them, and thought I would share my latest creations with you.  I've been making chalkboards for the past year or so, and I just discovered the new chalkboard vinyl!  I love it!  I used it for the three chalkboards here, that began life as picture frames.
I really love this frame!  It has the look and feel of a vintage piece (though it is not).  I painted it Heirloom White of course!  I love the pretty ribbon motif at the top and bottom of the frame.
 Lots of pretty detailing.
Some distressing and Ralph Lauren antiquing glaze add to the vintage feel.
I am always on the lookout for vintage Syroco pieces, so I was thrilled when I came across this large picture frame.  I knew right away that I wanted to paint it light blue.  It has some really pretty detailing, and faux wood grain that looks surprisingly realistic!
Blue paint + chalkboard vinyl = true love!!

A rather boring picture frame got a makeover with more Heirloom White and Ralph Lauren glaze!
I love the details of this frame.  While it is not old, it has a wonderful vintage feel that I really find so appealing!!

I have put these chalkboards in my Etsy shop, if you are interested.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Glad you found the vinyl! Still, there seems to be something missing here....oh, what could it be?

GLITTER! There's still no glitter!

I am a huge fan of chalkboards! These are works of art indeed. The chalkboard vinyl sounds a bit easier to deal with than the paint...though I do love it still!

Hi Donna,
I love your chalkboards, they are so pretty.
I've made a few, but they don't look as good as yours. I sometimes have trouble getting the chalk paint on properly. Do you have secret?

Great frames. I have some vinyl chalkboard but haven't used it yet. I have a few frames I got recently - I think I might finally use my vinyl chalkboard I have.

Love all your frames, Donna. You're inspiring me to paint some of mine white. I'll have to look for your favorite 'Heirloom White' paint, hee hee. Have a great week!

Ooh, fun. I've been wanting to make one of these for a while. Didn't know about chalkboard vinyl though. I guess it makes it easier.

Thank you for sharing your great project. Found you through Creative Spirit Challenge. Have a gorgeous day.

I think chalkboard paint is awesome...cannot get enough of it. I went to a junk/craft show and all these women were swooning over chalkboards on platters, in pretty frames...and I thought clearly you do not blog, because there are even prettier ones out there...like YOURS!
