Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Meet Katie

Hello everyone.  I've not been here for quite some time, and I have missed you all.  After a very difficult past month, we now have a new little ray of sunshine in our home! A cute little 9 1/2 week old cocker spaniel puppy that we've named Katie has been helping us to heal, after the loss of our beloved Emily.  While in all honesty, I was no where near ready to even think of bringing another pup into our home so soon, hubby was.  We love our Katie and have been having so much fun with her!  We travelled to the other side of the state several weeks ago for our initial meeting, and then brought her home almost two weeks ago.

So we have been busy working on potty training, playing, and trying to heal our broken hearts.
Here she is napping with her Daddy.
We brought her home in this little basket.  Doesn't get much cuter than a puppy in a basket, does it?
While it has been bittersweet, and we still miss our dear Emily more than words can say, Katie has been a true blessing and joy.  It is good to laugh again!
You may think from the photos that all she does is sleep. Wrong!  You should see her in "play mode"!  She plays so rough it is hard to get a picture of her:)
She gives us hope for happier days to come.

Awwww!
Thank you so much for all of your kind words, prayers, and support during the difficult days we have faced.
I am looking forward to getting back into blogging, and catching up with you all.
Have a great day!

Congratulations on your precious little bundle of fur.

Our hearts are amazing, they can be breaking and yet singing with joy. Emily is and will always be a part of you, our pets are forever there but the pain does change and eventually we can remember the good and fun times. You need to let your grief run its course, dear friend.

And, let Katie Bug work her puppy cuteness and help that healing process. It's awful, I know, but it will get better. And when you are overwhelmed just go and scoop up that little doodlebug and shower her with kisses, and I promise, she will kiss you back. Puppy Love - it doesn't get any better...

Heaps of hugs

Hello- My sweet dear friend! I just love that new little face in your family. She is just gorgeous and I love that she is not a carbon copy of Emily. I think that makes it easier to look at her as her own little self and not compare her. God bless you and I am so glad that you are back blogging again- xo Diana

Katie looks like she could heal any broken heart. She is so pretty. God never empties your arms for long, because there's always someone out there that needs you more than the one before. Emily would whole heartily approve of her baby sister.
I am such a sucker for floppy ears. Enjoy the new baby and congrats on being a mommy again!

Oh my goodness...I could just squish her she is soooo cute. I am so happy to hear you have a new baby, I am so with hubby on this one. It hurts so bad to lose a pet that I find the only way to survive is to find one to love and fill the horrible void and like you said, make you laugh again. I bet you have said many times "Wouldn't Emily have loved her" She does!

Oh Donna, she is adorable! That face! It has to be helping the heart. When we lost our 1st German Shepard many years ago by evening I found Heidi at Pet Smart the same day..although my heart was broken she helped us heal..as mr walked in the house the first time she gave him a big kiss. I still miss her even though it has been over a year. Greta keeps healing my heart day by day just as Katie will yours.

What a precious little love, Donna! Such a sweet, innocent spirit that will breath new life into you, I'm sure. Your words resonate so well with me, as I, too, miss my soul dog with all my heart. It's been 3 months and tears still flow. We were both truly blessed to have had these little creatures be such an integral part of our family! Everyone says I need to get another dog. And perhaps they are right. But with my husband and I in the throws of selling a home and finding a new one, it just isn't the right time. So, I will enjoy your new family member through your photos! You are truly blessed!!

Oh Donna! I was going to email you this morning to see how you are doing as I didn't see yesterday's blog post. I am SO happy to see that you have a new puppy! Katie is so adorable! She will never take Emily's place, but she will open up a new place in your heart that you didn't know you had.

Hi! I saw Katie's picture on the sidebar of Rosemary's blog, Villabarnes, and I just had to come get a closer look! She is adorable! I love cockers and am so sorry that you lost your beloved Emily. I've always had dogs as part of my family and just lost my last cocker, Sullivan, last June at the age of 16. We had adopted him and his brother, Gilbert, in 2001 from a rescue group. They were wonderful family members and their sister Molly, whom I got as a puppy, loved and accepted them from day one. Now there are no dogs following me everywhere and it is so hard to get used to. I'm just not quite ready yet, not sure what direction I want to go in as far as another dog or dogs goes. I keep an eye on several rescue groups and I know that when the right dog needs me, I'll be there for it. They never replace those who have gone, they just help fill the void in our hearts left behind and give us another opportunity to love and cherish an animal who needs us. Prayers for your healing. Hugs, Leena

Hi,

Katie is really cute and I bet she is a lot of fun and work right now until she is a little older.
It will be fun to meet her next time we come to the states. She will be a lot bigger then but it is fun to see pictures of her.
