Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Asking for Your Prayers, Please

Hello everyone,
I'm not normally the type to talk much about personal matters here in blog land.  I would much rather chat about fun things like glitter, spray paint, and thrift stores.  I wasn't planning on sharing this at all, but after thinking about it, decided to ask for your prayers.  I just found out this past week that I have an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit.  I'm having surgery to remove it this Wednesday afternoon.
I've been having lots of abdominal pain for the past two months, and have had lots of testing done.  Dr's told me it was everything from muscle pain from exercising, to my gall bladder. Well, neither was the case.
I've never had surgery before, other than when I was a little girl and had my tonsils removed.  So, I am scared, shocked, nervous, and worried.  So I ask to you please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.  It would mean so much to me.  The dr. said that due to the size of the cyst, she didn't know if she could remove it thru the laporoscope.  If not, it would require more invasive surgery, which would mean an over night stay in the hospital, and 6 weeks of recovery vs 1 week for the less invasive.  I have a feeling that it'll have to be the more invasive surgery.
I've not really had the heart to blog much lately, as I've been so upset by all of this.  Again, it's not easy for me to talk about personal things here.  But just knowing that you are thinking of me will really help to lift my spirits.  The dr. said it is rare for it to be cancerous in women under 50, so I am trying not to even think about that!!
By the way, I snapped all of these photos from our "backyard", the Puget Sound, the other night.  I do believe that it was the most gorgeous sunset I've ever seen! And believe it or not, I've not altered these pictures in any way, it really was that stunning!

Thanks so much for your prayers, I'll be sure to keep you posted!

I just said a prayer for you Donna. I will be thinking of you. I pray that your nerves are calmed. May peace come to you, and may God guide the surgeons hand.

I have had the same thing and had to have removed by invasive surgery. They cut my caesar scar open. Is your a dermoid cyst? It's basically when one of the eggs grows but has not been fertilsed. Mine had skin finger nails and hair in it. These are very common non cancerous cysts so hopefully it's that.

I was told exactly as you have been that they can't tell if it cancerous or not until the Pathology is done on it.

Praying hard for you and remember this is real common.

Hi Donna,
I am glad that you shared this on your blog. I too, try to keep my blog light-hearted and fun but this was important for you to share. We all need to pray for you. There is power in prayer and believe God will answer your prayers.:) I had this same thing years ago and surprisingly, I was a little sore but recovery was quick and I'm sure it's so much better now then it was back then. I will also pray that God give you peace.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2

Sending healing hugs to you,
Sonya

I had an ovarian tumor the size of a grapefruit when I was 3 months pregnant..the doctor did an ultrasound and it was invading right next to my baby.I had surgery to remove it while pregnant so they didnt put me all the way under. I have a csection cut on my lower abdomen but really the surgery was a success and my baby is now almost 15! Praise God. I know you must be scared but please know it is more common than you may think. I will keep you in my prayers and Im sure it will be fine! :) Blessings, Rachel

Donna,

You most certainly are in my prayers, and I will be thinking about you all day on Wednesday.

I am a very, very private person to but I have learned (still learning)to ask for prayers and that pray is so powerful. Please go out in your yard and watch the sunset and know that God is watching over you and will protect you. His love for us is unconditional.

Please post when you are back home and feeling better.

In prayer....

Praying for your peace and the surgery. I had one that size that broke - surgery the week of my 17th birthday a very long time ago. They did it vaginally (pre-lapro) - not to fun to sit afterwards but no scar. My daughter and a friend who was living with us also had the surgery, too. It is amazingly painful to have the cyst - I had to crawl, couldn't stand to walk because of the pain. You will be fine - and I hope someone brings you some lovely flowers. Love the photos of the Sound!!! I grew up near Tacoma and nothing replaces the wonders of that dogfish, killer-whale, jellyfish nuclear-sub infested body of water!

You have my prayers, Donna! I am sure you are feeling anxious, so I will pray for a successful surgery and peace of mind for you. A girlfriend of mine had similar surgery a while ago (I think her cyst was the same size), and is doing fine.
I hope more of sunsets like these bring you much peace.
Although our blogs do share decorating & crafting fun, please know that we are so grateful for your friendship here in blogland and think the world of you Donna!
Sharing real stuff allows us to share our humanity, too.
You'll be in my prayers this week,
Susan

Donna, So sorry you will have to go through surgery. I had this surgery many years ago. They were not terribly large but I was trying to get pregnant and pregnancy can make them grow so they came out. I'm sure it will all go well for you. Get better from your cold! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!

My girlfriend had this and she recovered just fine although I am sure this doesn't help when you are in the midst of it. I don't blame you...I would be scared too. Hang in there. Lots of love - Debbie

Hi Donna - I have had many ovarian cysts over the years, none cancerous... I've even been in the emergency room thinking I had appendicitis when actually one of the cysts burst... I am now on birth control pills which stop the cysts from forming and life is much more comfortable. Never had one removed, perhaps there are different kinds. Mine come and go, but I do know the discomfort, and it's awful. Heating pads help.

Sending you prayers that your surgery will go well and you'll feel fine right away.

Hi Donna,

My name is Donna, too, and I've popped over from Nana Diana's who is helping you spread the word for prayers.

I will be lifting you up, asking the Lord to guide the surgeon's hands, that you be calmed knowing the Holy Spirit is within you ~ healing you even before this surgery starts. That God, Our Father in Heaven, send a legion of Angels to stand guard around you and your loved ones, around all those who will be in charge of your treatment and healing process in the hospital, as we know he is the Ultimate healer! I also pray as you wake from your surgery slumber, you awaken to the best news and your smiling husband!

Bless you, Donna ~
Hugs ~ Donna
