Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Sweet Peas and Vintage Milk Glass

It's a warm and sunny day here on the Puget Sounds, a perfect day for a "photo shoot" out on the deck!
I am in love with Sea Peas, and was thrilled to discover that there is a ton of it growing wild in our yard!  We always grew it back home in Michigan, and it's always been one of my favorite flowers.  I think it looks especially lovely in my vintage milk glass vases.
I also really love this white cotton tablecloth with pretty crocheted trim and fringe.  I found it a garage sale earlier this summer for just $1!  I didn't realize it til I got home, but it actually is a shower curtain.  I'll probably use it as that someday, but for now, I think it makes a great stand in for a tablecloth!  Proof that you don't always have to use things for their intended purpose!
I think the detail is just gorgeous!  And to think it was only a mere dollar!

Such pretty and old fashioned feeling flowers, don't you think?  I didn't touch up the color of the blooms, they really are this vibrant!
It's kind of hard to tell in the photos (I still don't know the "trick" to photographing milk glass!), but this compote has the prettiest diamond pattern.  I also really love the scalloped detail at the top.
So pretty, and so romantic, I think!
This Fenton hobnail vase below is one of my favorites.  My mom gave it to me years ago.
I found this pretty vase at a thrift shop.  Not sure what you call the pattern, but I really love it!
Don't you think that sweet peas resemble orchids, when you look at them up close?!
Another pretty vase, found at a garage sale!
My mom had a great visit with us last week.  It was so nice having her here.  We took her site seeing, and I took her to some of my favorite shops, which she loved!  Hubby and I flew back with her to Michigan on Saturday.  It was a quick trip home, as hubby had to be to work today.  It was great seeing family, but it made me even more homesick for Michigan!  Like many of you, Michigan has been having the worst heat wave for weeks, and it was super hot and muggy when we were there!  So, I was actually looking forward to coming back to Washington, it's never humid here!  We spent about 8 hours yesterday stuck at the airport in Detroit!  What fun!  I had forgotten than Monday is the absolute worst day to fly.  The airport was a zoo, and we were beginning to think that we'd have to spend the night at a hotel there.  Luckily we finally made it out late afternoon, yeah!  Now that things are back to "normal" here, I can get caught up with all of you ladies!
Hope you are having a great week!

The sweet peas are gorgeous and look exceptionally good in the milk glass.

Glad you had a good visit with your mom..how very special!
My cousin lives in Benton Harbor MI and she told me today her impatients and begonia are dying because of the heat...and to think I could go up there and visit her and cool off...NOT!!

Sweet peas are always a favorite with me too. Your milk glass tablescape is just delightful. I'm so glad your Mom was able to visit. I would agree about the MI heat. It's been brutal. Tonight our windows are completely fogged up because of the humidity outside. Crazy.

Such lovely vases and gorgeous pink blossoms Donna! You've got a great collection of milk glass there, and lucky you to find that tablecloth/curtain. Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit with your Mom, despite heat and travel headaches.
Thank you so much for your kind encouragement about joining Etsy. I'm so inspired by the talented sellers there, such as you!

The sweet peas are so sweet and lovely and milk glass vases are the perfect compliment to them.

I am glad your Mom got to visit and was hoping that you might get a chance to spend some time home with family (in spite of the heat).

Miss "talking" to you- we will catch up one of these days-xo Diana

It's been muggy here just above you on Vancouver Island..guess being in the Sound, you don't get the humidity..we sure do!
I'm not familiar with those lovely flowers, wish they grew wild here, too..
I think your repurposed shower curtain makes a perfect table cover...

Donna - just beautiful. I love milk glass too! So pretty. Sounds like you had a horrible travel day on Monday. I know that feeling. Nothing worse. At least you were in the airport and not on the runway. That's worse!!

Glad your Mom had a nice visit. When you move back to Michigan - what are you going to do with all that humidity!!
