Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Fabric Covered Cork Board

Hi everyone, how is your week going?
Today I thought I'd share with you one of my recent projects for my shop, a fabric covered cork board.
I remember as a young girl having a cork board in my room.  A plain ordinary ol' cork board. Well, they have come a long way since then!  Pin boards, inspiration boards, memo boards, whatever you call them, cork boards no longer have to be boring!
Pretty frames and fabric covered boards seem to be all the rage now, so I thought I'd try my hand at making one!
I wish I had taken the time to snap a before shot of this oval frame (geez, how often have I said that?!)
It's made by Homco, and began as a very dated peachy color  (hello 1980!), and held an equally dated "cutesy country" print, ugh!!
I couldn't paint that frame fast enough with my favorite creamy white!
I picked up a roll of cork at Michel's, cut it to fit the opening (after I removed the glass and ugly print, of course!) and covered it in this pretty floral cotton pansy print fabric that I just happened to have on hand.
I just love pansies, they are one of my favorite flowers, and I thought the colors of this fabric were so pretty!
So there you have it, my version of a fabric covered inspiration board!!
I couldn't resist sharing a few photos of Katie I snapped last week.  She loves finding spots of sun to lay in, and here she is working on her tan in our bedroom!
 Sure getting sleepy!
"I'm too tired for any more pictures, Mom!"
Have a great day, can't wait to see what you all have been up to!

Clever girl, Donna! You've made something functional into quite a beauty. The pansies perk me up for spring. :)

Hi Donna, GORGEOUS and I love the pansy fabric. This was a great makeover and so useful too. Love it!! What darling pics of sweet Katie sunning herself. So sweet. Looks like the sun put her to sleep. LOVE your gorgeous floors. Really pretty shade of stain on the wood.

Have a great day.
Hugs!!

Love that oval frame and the pansy print is pretty as is!! Great job. I'm finding lots of 'peachy' things here at Mom's house from the 1980's!

hugs, Linda

We have multiple fabric cork boards in our house. The girls love finding special treasures to tack up. Isn't it fun to think we did the same thing a zillion years ago? Your board is perfect with that fabric selection!! Katie is perfect too!

Great idea and it looks so good.
Katie sure looks cute getting her sunning and nap.
I've been up to not much other than working in the gardening - deadheading my roses and planting a vegetables in the veggie garden.
I've not been out much as we are having 50/60 miles an hr winds and very hot weather - high 90's sooooooo that triggers my COPD so I have to stay in with air on so I don't have a problem breathing. Did however put up some new pictures in living room and some unusual baskets on top of my hutch as it was boring.
Looking forward to going on a garden tour this weekend.
Hopefully you are having some Spring weather. Take care my friend.
Mary

I love that fabric! I love pansies. Looks like the ones on the vintage postcards. Love this idea and I have a frame on the deck that would make a great board.
I have mine the kitchen that I covered with ceiling tile wall paper a few years ago that could use a little make over, too...
You always inspire me!
Love Katie!

I love your remake of an ugly frame and print - into a beautiful pansy covered cork board! It's lovely!

Katie is so cute...how big is she? Height and weight? Our baby, Angel who weighed 7# at 5 1/2 months when we got her, now weighs 11# 8oz at about 10 months of age. She is very long and has very long legs!! Standing on her hind legs, she's taller than the other 2 and is even taller than Benny, our Havanese who passed in December. She's just the sweetest!

Thanks for the visit!

Jan ♥
