Planes, Boats, and Automobiles!

Happy Saturday everyone!  Another week has just flown by!  Hope you have been having a great one.

Yesterday, a friend of hubby's invited us out on his sailboat on Lake Erie.  It was out first big outing since hubby's knee surgery 2 weeks ago, so it was a treat to do something fun! Rather than drive there, we flew!

Here is hubby's plane. It just so happens to be my favorite color combination of blue and white :)  Notice the cornfield in the background?!

The flight on the way there.  I love seeing all of the farmland from above!  We had a fun surprise on the flight there, as we happened to fly over this huge corn maze!

Can you see the Statue of Liberty on the left?

Can you spot the eagle in the upper left of the above photo?  Pretty "amaizing"!

After a short 15 minute flight (better than an hour or more driving!), hubby's friend picked us up & we headed for the harbor.  This is the boat that I picked out!  Hey, might as well dream big!!

It was fun checking out all the names of the boats!

It was a beautiful and relaxing day!

Summer was pretty stressful, so this was a much needed break!

You can't see it, but there's a neat house on this island.  Can you imagine owning your own island?

Here in Michigan we love our Great Lakes!  They are really special to us!

Heading home.  The sun was setting, and the sky was just gorgeous!

We flew over the corn maize again.  Check out George Washington, how cool is that ?!

I love how the sunset left a wonderful pinkish glow over the field!  You might get a glimpse of the Liberty Bell to the right of George.

Gorgeous Crinkled Seam Binding!

Be still my heart!!

Hello ladies, how is everyone today?  I was so excited by what I found in my mailbox today!  Of course I knew it was coming, I ordered it myself!!  I absolutely am in love with the crinkly seam binding that is so popular right now, and I found a wonderful shop on Etsy that is just amazing!

Ooooh!  I love the neutral colors, and such a beautiful presentation!

The shop is called Bluebird Lane, and I was so impressed with not only her gorgeous seam binding, but the beautiful packaging and tags that she sent me as well.  Everything was wrapped so pretty (in my excitement, I forgot to take a picture before I opened the package!) that I felt as if I were receiving a gift!

Beautifully packaged!  I bought the binding to use in projects for my shop, and could hardly wait to get started!  In fact, I have already used up almost all of the Halloween seam binding!

She even included a couple of cute tags as gifts!

Gorgeous!  I can hardly wait to order more!! I think I will tell hubby he can get my my Christmas present early this year.  I want seam binding. Lots of seam binding!  From Bluebird Lane!

I really like shopping on Etsy.  Not only are you supporting a real person (rather than just a huge corporation), you can shop from the comfort of your own home!  I can sit in my pjs, beverage in hand & go shopping!  Plus, some craft supplies I just can't find anywhere around here. Lovely Eiffel Tower Pillow That I Won!

Hello Ladies, I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday!
The other day I mentioned that I had won my choice of pillows from the Word Garden on Etsy, and look what I received in the mail today!!  Oooh, la, la!  I am so excited about my new Eiffel Tower pillow!  Sally from
Word Garden  so very generously offered me my choice of pillows.  Let me tell you, it was hard to choose, as they all are just so gorgeous!  You all know how much I adore the Eiffel Tower, so as soon as I saw this one, I just knew it had my name on it!  It is made of the most wonderful fabric, which looks like fine linen, though it is cotton.  Sally did a fabulous job constructing it, it's extremely well made, and it looks tres magnifique in our living room!

Creamy Whites!

Hello Ladies, I can hardly believe that it's already time for White Wednesday!  Kathleen over at Faded Charm hosts a terrific party each Wednesday, celebrating what else, but white!!  So if you have never visited, please be sure to do so, as you will find some pretty incredible inspirations!  Today wanted to share with you a few creamy whites around my house. Now, I love color, don't get me wrong!  But I absolutely adore creamy whites, and just can't get enough of it!!

Some end of summer blooms. My sister gave me this unique metal vase several years ago, and I just love it!  The "vases" are actually glass test tubes.  The distressed creamy metal is so shabby chic, and so me!

              I am loving this bright pink zinnia!  I sure will miss my flowers once cold weather arrives.

 Small cast iron bird bath that I enjoy changing out with the season.  Right now a sweet little pair of birds are nesting inside :)

                              Aren't they cute?  They have made a nest of various mosses and twigs!

Hubby made this vintage inspired green bench several years ago.  I want to paint it cream and distress it one of these days!  I really like the green, but that's the beauty of paint, don't you think? You can easily change the look of just about anything!

 Vintage milk glass bowl. I really love the bubble pattern, and how the glass has an almost luminescent quality (which unfortunately is not showing up in these photos).

            I  am calling this my "ode to Paris", as I have filled the bowl with dried rosebuds and lavender that I                             bought   in Paris.  I also found this wonderful Eiffel Tower postcard there, too.

            I made the sachet out of my favorite toile fabric, then filled with a bunch of the French  lavender (I adore the fragrance!), and added a vintage button.

 You can never have too many chandeliers!

French Themed Shadow Box: A Fun Project!

I hope that you all are enjoying your holiday weekend!  We are having some wonderfully cool weather today, such a relief from the hot & muggy summer!  I am so looking forward to fall!  Here on the lake, summer is always kind of crazy (luckily we don't live directly on the lake, so we have some peace & quiet and privacy!), so things really start to quiet down after this weekend.  Love that!

Today I wanted to share with you a shadow box that I just finished.  I just love shadow boxes!  I got the box itself from Michael's.  The round wooden base can be picked up at Michael's or Hobby Lobby, and the wooden finial can even be found at hardware stores.  I ended up using a smaller finial than the one I have pictured here.  I saved that one for a larger shadow box that I am working on now.  The candlestick was picked up at a garage sale, I am always on the prowl for them!

I joined all of the pieces together with Loctite epoxy.  Then I primed the entire piece, and followed with several coats of Rustoleum spray paint in aqua.  Love the color!  After a bit of Ralph Lauren antiquing glaze in "smoke", I was ready for the fun part, the inside of the box!!

I began by decoupaging pages from a vintage French book to the inner backing of the shadow box.  The image of the Eiffel Tower is a reproduction vintage postcard I picked up when we were in Paris this past spring.  And of course I had to add this adorable little metal Eiffel Tower that I bought on our trip, too!  I used some spray mount adhesive to adhere the card, then followed with a coat of Mod Podge.

Here you can see the wooden base.  I always seem to have a bunch on hand, you never know when you might need them!

Notice the Eiffel Tower clock?  Love it!
