Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

From This to This.................

Hi everyone, hope your week has been a good one so far!
Well we went from this,
sunny, relatively mild Savannah with stately moss draped live oaks,

to this.............

Yep, we made it back to the arctic zone!
While I am happy to be home after such a long trip, I really could do without the snow and cold!
This is (or, should I say "was"?) our front deck, where you can get a peek a boo glimpse of our now snow covered motor home!
So today I thought I'd share with you a few photos that I snapped from the road trip home.
I couldn't get a good pic of the entire span of Talmadge Bridge in Savannah which we crossed, so I found the one below, on line.  It is pretty impressive, and much, much bigger when you are driving over it, especially in a motor home!
Notice the huge freighter.  Hubby and I had alot of fun enjoying drinks at our favorite place downtown overlooking the water, where we could marvel at the giant cargo ships arriving from all over the world.
And here is  pic that I snapped going over the bridge!
Thankfully hubby does all of the driving!
On long trips like this, we always pull hubby's car, so that makes us a whopping 47 feet long!!
Hold your breath, and don't look over the edge!!
I always get a kick of of goofy signs when we are traveling.  This was next door to the gas station where we stopped to refuel, in South Carolina.  Not sure if "Chickin Lickin" is really world famous, as the sign says.................
And once you are finished with your Southern fried chicken,
you can hop next door for some fireworks!
For some reason, the people of the south seem to love their fireworks!
This is Katie's favorite perch when we are going down the road!
The beautiful mountains near Asheville, North Carolina.
The roads were perfectly clear and dry as we drove thru Asheville.
Another Asheville view from the road.
It got colder of course the further north we headed.
Just look at these huge icicles along the road in Tennessee!
Going thru the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.  Even though I wasn't excited to see snow again, I must admit it was pretty!
Thankfully, we didn't have any snowy conditions on the roads til we reached southern Ohio, where we woke up to several inches of freshly fallen snow, and it was still coming down!

And this last shot is a pic of our back yard that I snapped this morning
(from the comfort of inside, I might add!)

Yes, home is sweet, but in truth I am hoping for an early spring!
Not so sure we will be getting it here in the Midwest!
Stay warm and snug!

Welcome home! Glad your trip was wonderful and safe. I love watching the snow from inside...but that's about it. Oh, until the Pups go outside and run around in it - they love it!!

We're expecting some snow this morning and some freezing rain too! UGH!

Hugs,
Jan ♥

Welcome home! Such fun travels you've had. Katie has quite the lovely window view!

PS. I swear Mother Nature has decided that with our green Christmas, we're keeping winter a bit longer than usual.

It wont be long and I'll be meeting up with you in Howell for dinner at Tomato Bros. I hope. C'mon Spring!!

So glad that you made it home safe Donna. What a change in the weather, you must be freezing to death. It was good that you got to go down to Georgia where it was warmer than home. I know it is always good to come back home.
The pictures are great and that is one big terrific bridge. They have similar one to that in Boston.
Enjoy your time at home. Bet Katie was surprised to see all that snow.
Hopefully Spring just around the corner. We are expecting 80's this weekend.
Have a great week,
Mary

I am so sorry you left the warmth of the south to the frigid iceland of the north. You should have waited a couple more weeks! Love the photos and the funny signs. Katie isn't scared of semis? Brave girl.
I can get your things in the mail now that you are home- probably won't be until Saturday morning. Freezing ice here until then. Stay warm!

Hi Donna! I enjoyed all those pretty pics! Savannah is a beautiful place! I hope the warmth you experienced there melts away the snowy blahs! The snow is so pretty and pristine! I'm glad the bit of snow we received has long melted. But there is a chance of ice on Thursday, after a high of 70 on Wednesday! Got to love the South. Hope to see more pics soon! Blessings from Bama!

You are so lucky to get to escape the snow for so long. I hope you get an early spring too.

Donna,
Loved your photos and welcome back home. Us too with a snow storm, but this one tonight is weird. Rain and snow mix freezing into the consistency of a snow cone and this is only part 1 of a 3 part storm in Philly. Oh hurry Spring!
We stayed at the Bohemian and had a river view while we visited Savannah. We had a balcony and would sit out and watch the river traffic, such a busy river and amazing bridge.
I enjoyed all your photos you have posted from your trip.
xoxo,
Vera

Hi Donna, What wonderful pics of your trip coming home. The roads were so good until you reached Ohio.
Love that bridge shot. They make me nervous too. What a sweet pic of Katie perched in here sunny spot to travel. She is so well behaved. Looks like she is a bit sleepy too.

Your snow pics are gorgeous even though I know you are ready for this to be over.
We are getting one more winter storm today into Thursday!!
Welcome Home and stay warm.
Hugs, CM
