Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Puppies and Glitter

Yep, that is my therapy!
We're having lots of fun with our Katie, but boy can she be a handful!
You would never guess it by that sweet little face, would you?
I know that it won't last forever, that she is just doing what puppies are supposed to do!
She is really growing fast!  Tomorrow she will be 3 months old.
Unless she is sleeping or her daddy is around to watch her, it has been a bit difficult to get much done around the house!  If I am not watching her like a hawk, you just never know what mischief she will get into!

Well, you know how much I love playing with glitter.  It always manages to put a smile on my face!
So I thought I'd share with you one of my latest projects, that I made for my Etsy shop.
I'd had this neat vintage bottle for awhile, just waiting to be transformed. So, I decoupaged one of my all time favorite French labels from the Graphics Fairy to the front.  Isn't it just the prettiest?  I love the colors.  It might be hard to tell from the photos, but I've covered the label with my favorite clear coarse glitter from Martha Stewart.  I think I should by stock in the stuff, as much as I go thru:)
To the neck of the bottle I tied a very generous bow of wonderfully crinkly taupe seam binding.  I also added this neat skeleton key imprinted with the word "heart".
And for more sparkly fun, I added this pretty silk hydrangea blossom that I just had to glitter!
It was a fun project, I really do love how it turned out.
Puppies + glitter = good therapy!!

On a more solemn note, saying prayers for all of those who are hurting.  It has been such a difficult week for so many people in our country.
Praying that the Lord will bless the people in Boston and Texas who have been affected by loss and tragedy.

Donna- That is just GORGEOUS! You do such fabulous work-they are like art pieces when you get done with them.

Yes, it has been a very hurtful week.

Puppyhood - how soon we forget about "raising puppy". Katy looks so innocent sitting there ON YOUR BED. That little face - but I do see a glimmer of mischief in those sweet little eyes.

The bottle is beautiful.

Happy weekend dear friend.

I am so surprised that Katie isn't covered in glitter. I'll bet she has a glitter color and a glittered t-shirt.
Boy, this country sure has been hit hard this week. Going to be looking for some good news this coming week.

Hi Donna,
Oh my goodness just look at Katie and her sweetness. Pure joy in fur!!
She is so cute and I bet she does get into mischief. Well, like you said, she is doing what puppies do and enjoying it!!

And you are creating gorgeous treasures too. I love your glittered bottle with the graphic and heart key. I had some of those and loved using them. Your work is always gorgeous.
So glad you are having some fun and Katie is in your life.

Continued prayers for all those in Boston and Texas.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Katie looks SO cuddly, like a teddy bear! Puppies vary, some are tough to train and some easy. Be consistent. I took Milo out like clockwork every 3 hours, jumped for joy when he did his "thing", and gave him a treat. When he tried to chew something I scolded him and stuck a rawhide bone in his mouth. The only thing I still have a problem with is his barking at anyone at the door and sleeping on my furniture. The latter I don't mind so much...he's my baby! The barking drives me up a wall! lol! Good luck!

The bottle is precious! I wish I could find a craft that makes me as happy as yours do!

XO,
Jane

Awwww....hard to believe that sweet little face could get herself into trouble. Having two little stinkers of my own, I totally understand.
It's worth it, tho.
Your glittered bottle is gorgeous, Donna. I think this one is a keeper!
Big hugs to you.

Donna, your bottle is gorgeous and your puppy is, too. The thing about puppies is that they are so cute and loveable, that you just have to forgive them for all the mischief.

Perfect therapy indeed, Donna! I have an image of your sweet Katie covered in glitter - does she get into that kind of mischief? Hee hee.
Thanks so much for sending prayers our way. It's hard to believe all this happened in our home cities last week. I lived in Watertown for 10 years and we were married there. It was hard to watch our old hometown under siege. I'm glad they finally caught the last suspect, but it is all so sad.
Take care Donna,
Susan
