Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Scenes from the South

Bonjour Ya'll!
We are having a nice and relaxing time down here in Savannah.  While some of you have been hit by that massive snow storm on the East Coast (hope you are safe and snug!), we feel pretty far removed from our usual cold and snowy Michigan!
There is so much to see and do in Savannah and the surrounding area.  The homes are just amazing!  What I love is that they all are different, and so full of character and details! Isn't the ginger bread trim on the house above pretty?  I wish that I could've gotten a good shot of the weather vane, it was a cherub!
This stunning home is a bed and breakfast.  I was in awe of all of the gorgeous trim!
Right outside of the inn was a beautiful flowering tree, I think it may have been a type of redbud (?).  Back at home in the midwest, we won't see anything blooming for several more months!
The other day we took a day trip down to St. Simons Island.  There were several fun shops in town, many with a beachy feel.  Love these fun aqua vintage metal chairs!

And just look at this vintage wooden mermaid!
Thought this sign was a cute spin on the usual "keep calm & carry on"!
Ok, back in Savannah now!  Look at this very genteel looking brick home!  Notice the moss hanging from the trees?
I loved this amazing urn, outside of a restaurant!
I thought this Venitian mirror was stunning!
This is us! (not a good picture of me at all!)  We had dinner the other night with a nice couple we met at the campground. They were raving about "Uncle Bubba's Oyster House", owned by Paula Deen's brother.  Well, I can see why they loved it, the food was delish!  I had shrimp, and I even tried an oyster (which I thought I would hate!) that was covered in melted freshly grated parmesan cheese.  It was so yummy!!!  Hubby and  shared an equally yummy piece of key lime pie for dessert, which was amazing!

So after several days of site seeing, we are spending some time at the motor home just relaxing and enjoying the warm temps.
That's it for today, hope you all have a great week!

Looks like you guys are having an awesome trip! I love the pictures of the houses...don't you wish you could just walk up to the front door and ask if you could walk through them all? So glad that you are taking us along on your trip!

I'm so happy for you, Donna. What a lovely romantic get-away. Such amazing scenery. We now have freezing rain. I'm just a tad bit jealous.

Oh you lucky girl you! And aren't you both just the cutest ever!
Savannah is such a lovely place and I can't wait to go back. I remember a little shop that was full of lovely white vintage linens. I bought two embroidered white pillow shams and paid a bunch...but I still love them.

I've been catching up with your Savannah posts, Donna...LOVE them! Great photo of you and your husband! We've been thinking of vacationing there ourselves. I lived in Savannah for nearly four years when I was young...this Minnesota woman has a whole lotta Southern girl in her...

Oh I envy you having such a great vacation. The Paris Marketplace was my favorite shop when we visited there. They were so gracious to let us take all the photos we wanted too, and that moss hanging from the trees just sets a southern mood like nothing else. I know you are having a wonderful time and I'm glad for you.
