Welcome to my blog!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe that everyone can have a beautiful home without spending a fortune! One of my favorite things to do is find creative ways to re-purpose things I already have on hand, or have picked up at yard sales and thrift stores. Join me as I share with you some of my favorite ideas for crafting and decorating, as well as travel adventures, and fun things that I pick up on my treasure hunts! Much of my work is influenced by my love all things French, nature, and of course shabby chic! I have gotten so many creative ideas from you very talented bloggers out there, and I hope that I can be an inspiration to you as well!

Prayers for South Texas

After watching on tv for the past week the devastation of so much of south east Texas, my heart is heavy.
It's hard to even comprehend the loss and what so many have gone thru.  Watching from the comfort of my own home reminds me how fortunate we are, and how it's so easy to take even the smallest things for granted.

The need is great, and there are so many people who are desperate for help.  Can you imagine escaping with only the clothes on your back?  Some people didn't even have shoes on when they were rescued.  And they were the lucky ones.  They made it out.
Can you imagine losing everything?
Granted things are just that, things.
But, photographs, family heirlooms that have been passed down for generations, those are the things that just can't be replaced.

One small bright spot is seeing all of the rescue workers who are selflessly giving of themselves to save others.  From the first responders to the volunteers.
I've cried many tears, and I'm sure you have to.

These people need our help.  Not just short term, but for the long haul.  If you are able to help, please consider donating. Whether it be food, clothing, or cash, anything no matter how small is needed.

If you aren't able to donate cash, you can still give!
All Camping World locations across the country are accepting donations of new and gently used clothing.
They are also accepting blankets, pet food, and other items.
If you can make a monetary donation, they will match dollar for dollar. Their drive is going on thru Labor Day.
Here is a link to Camping World's Facebook page.

Of course there are many more organizations that are doing drives.
Let's all come together and support Texas.

Donna, I know the churches help gather clothing, water and food items. I am hoping handy workers will be there to help some rebuilt and that the gov. helps with dollars also. I always worry about flooding in my basement here...so I can't imagine losing everything due to flood waters. Blessings to you, I spend some time praying each day since this has happened. xoxo, Susie

So glad to hear from you even though it is about the terrible Harvey. My heart goes out to all of them. It is so sad to loose everything, but especially pictures of loved ones. We shouldn't take things for granted.

Hope your doing well, miss your posts and emails. Take care dear Donna.

Hows the baby puppy? Guess she's not a baby anymore.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Donna, how wonderful to see you here blogging. I had no idea you were back as I am not receiving your posts in my inbox. I'll have to sign up once again.

Yes, you are so right. Texas and our friends to the south, Houston and the surrounding areas sure need our help. It is so sad and still in a dire situation. Any way that folks can give, will help. Locally we have so many giving ways going on and it really is a blessing to participate knowing that someone in need will be helped. Our prayers continue in the days ahead.

Thank you for sharing. Have a nice long Labor Day weekend. Hugs xo

Texas and Louisiana are going to need our help for years to come. I've already given to The Red Cross several times at various locations. I really hope we keep getting reminders of ways to donate because once is not enough. There are so many caring and selfless people out there, I hope its bringing us all together.

Great post. Thank you.

Jane
