Hello Ladies, hope you have all had a great weekend!
On the weekends, we try and explore as much of our new state as we can. Yesterday, we took a day trip to a gorgeous Bavarian town several hours from here called Leavenworth. The setting is just perfect, and seems right out of a fairy tale! In the middle of snow covered mountains, the town feels straight out of the Black Forest region in Germany!
I loved the architecture, and all of the flower boxes and hanging baskets. They were stunning! It was a very warm and sunny day, and the town was super busy, as you can see from all of the cars and tourists in some of my photos.
All of the buildings had the most beautiful painted scenes, just like the ones we saw when we visited Germany several years ago!
If it weren't for the American flags that were flying, and signs in English, this town would surely be mistaken for a little piece of heaven in Bavaria!
We were surprised at how much warmer it was in Leavenworth than back by us in the Puget Sound. It was in the upper 80's when we visited yesterday, which was one of the few glimpses we've had of hot weather since we've been out here. We do good to make it into the low 70's!And here is yours truly, and a glimpse of our little dog Emily, who was too busy to get her photo taken!
The flowers were just stunning! I don't think I've ever seen such huge hanging planters before!
I especially loved the blue tones of this pretty building! Look at all of that gorgeous hand painting! They say that it's especially beautiful at Christmas time, as they have lighting ceremonies all thru the month of December. I know that I can't wait to return to this beautiful little town!
Isn't this church pretty? It really does look authentically German!!!
Ok, now I am totally behind on visiting all of you, so I need to get busy and do some blog hopping!
Have a great week!
Just awesome! I am so glad that you took us with you! Those hanging baskets are so great! Where would you hang one?
ReplyDeleteYou have to go back at Christmas!

Donna- My girls and I have both been there and spent the night about 15 years ago. I bought a blue and white coffee cup in the little shop that you show and had it until about 2 years ago. I just LOVED that town and thought it was just gorgeous. I felt like I had stepped onto a movie set~ xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI was just on Debbiedoos site and happened to see the picture of Leavenworth on her blogroll, so I had to come right over here. We were just in Leavenworth in late June and you are right, it is heavenly. The whole town is a photographer's dream. Loved your pictures! Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately--ha!) the only two times we have been to Leavenworth we have either gotten there before the stores opened or after they were closing for the day. So our visit consisted of taking pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful town. Reminds me of Frankenmuth MI (but even prettier). Such a cute picture of you. I'm glad you are exploring your new state.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful architecture. That is a town that I would love to live in.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week.
You have to go back during the Christmas season. The town is gorgeous now, I can just imagine how beautiful it would be with holiday lights!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful town Donna! I would love to see it in Christmas, will be looking forward for those pictures :) I can't believe how cool those temperatures are, and still snow in the mountains? wow, I bet it doesn't melt by the time it starts falling again. Thank you for the beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Looks like it was a great day. I agree if I didn't know it was in Washington I would think it was a German or Swiss village.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
ReplyDeleteFrom the looks of your photo and that big smile on your pretty face, I'd say that you are having a fun summer.
Love the quaint town, it's so authentic looking. It's nice that you could visit and enjoy it.

It does seem odd that just South of us, it's so much cooler..I'm jealous..its been averaging 25 Celsius here (the eqiv of 80 Fahrenheit) on mid-Vancouver Island..guess i'll just have to move South..which seems counter-intuitive, doesn't it...
