It's official! I'm obsessed with mirrors! I've been on a roll lately, and have been busy transforming quite a few beautiful vintage mirrors. I'm always on the hunt for interesting mirrors that I can make over with paint and some tlc. So, I thought I'd share with you two of my latest creations, that I must say are my all time favorites (so far, anyway!)!
I am in love with this one! This gorgeous mirror came from my favorite consignment store. Can you believe, I passed it up when I was there a few weeks ago. Then last week, it was still there, and I just knew that it had to come home with me! Well, I took a before photo of it, but wouldn't you know, I deleted it by mistake!
Anyway, it started out life "gaudy gold". What a transformation my favorite cream shade makes, I think! Made in Italy of a Syroco type material, it's the first one like it that I've ever found. I just love all of the gorgeous details.
Of course I had to do a bit of distressing to give her that shabbylicious appeal! I really, really want to keep this piece, but have put it my Etsy shop. So now I really need to find another one just like it, that I can keep for myself!
Love!
Ok, this next beauty I am keeping all to myself! My good friend gifted me with it, and I just love it! Again, I'd never seen a mirrored sconce just like this one.
This is what it looked like before I worked a little magic on it! Made of Burwood (which is similar to syroco), it is just ooozing with shabby charm, don't you think?
Just look at all of that gorgeous detail! I can't stop looking at it!
I know that so many of you would agree when I say "You can never have too many mirrors!"!!!!
Believe it or not, I've got a few more mirrors that I just finished for my shop, that I'll be sharing with you later this week!
Hope you all have a great week!

Love that first one. Have never seen one like that before. Wonder if it was old HI?
ReplyDeleteEmily has been watching Once Upon A Time, I think! Maybe she needs a buddy to pal around with. Bebe is having a had time keeping up with the neighbor puppy, so she might need an old neighbor friend.
I am sure my old frame was a mirror at one time, but loved the frame just like it is. I thought if YOU can paint this old gold yucky stuff, so could I and gave it a try. It can out great with just spray paint!
Well, back out to the deck I go. Been in trying to get caught up on house work and laundry, ate a lite supper and now I need to kick up my feet a bit.
Hi Donna,
ReplyDeleteWow, do I ever understand the mirror obsession thing. I've got so many that my house is getting scary looking! You see yourself everywhere you look! LOL
I love your mirrors. That first one must have been hard to paint but you did a great job. The sconce is pretty too and I can't blame you for keeping it.

I would want to keep both for myself! I can't believe anyone would find that "gaudy gold" appealing...thank goodness for white paint and someone who has the eye to see what its potential is!

They are both lovely, I don't think I would be able to part with them.

I've been collecting a few mirrors myself ~ just need to figure out WHERE to put them all, lol :) I'm running out of wall space :)
ReplyDeleteOHHHHH! I love them all! I'm sure these will fly off your Etsy "shelves"!
ReplyDeleteAre you keeping cool?
Oh my Donna! both mirrors are very pretty, but I must admit, I absolutely love the first one!!

ReplyDeleteYour mirrors are beautiful. I love the detail that the Sirocco allowed in the design. So much of it is still around because it really was very sturdy material.
ReplyDeleteYou always do a wonderful job of transforming these mirrors into something special, Donna! I love the unusual shape of the first mirror, too!
ReplyDeleteOh, such gorgeous French beauty, Donna! Love them both! I know how difficult it is to upcycle something....and then sell it. Alot of my treasures live in my house for a while first. lol!
