Hello, hope you all are having a great week!
I've been on another chalkboard kick, and have been busy creating a bunch of them for my Etsy shop. I could hardly wait to share with you this beauty! Of course, she didn't start out life looking so pretty! Oh, no! I'll show you in a bit what she began life as.
I've been on another chalkboard kick, and have been busy creating a bunch of them for my Etsy shop. I could hardly wait to share with you this beauty! Of course, she didn't start out life looking so pretty! Oh, no! I'll show you in a bit what she began life as.
I began by painting her my favorite cream color, followed by just the right amount of distressing. And Oooh, la, la! A shabbyliscious new chalkboard is born!
The frame is a vintage syroco type material, and is very heavy and ornate. It really has the look of hand carved wood! Just look at all of her gorgeous details! While I would dearly love to keep her, I placed her in my Etsy shop. Now, I just need to find another frame like this (I wish!), and I'll keep that one for myself for sure!!
Like all of my chalkboards, I use chalkboard vinyl. The great thing about that is you can use both regular chalk, and chalk pens, too, for a dust free finish.
Ok, ladies! Are you ready to see the "before"? I sure hope it's not sacrilegious to replace the Last Supper with a chalkboard! (sorry Jesus!)
But, I think He would approve of the new look:)
Here is another vintage beauty that I just completed. The pictures just don't do it justice!
I forgot to take a before shot of this one, but it had an ugly old print in it, and the frame was a gaudy gold. This one is solid wood, and the details are just so pretty!
And here is yet another one that I just created! This one is a lightweight plastic frame, though looking at it, you would swear that it's carved wood!
It's got lots of pretty and oh so shabby details!
You can find all of these (and more chalkboards, too!) in my Etsy shop, if you care to take a peek!Enjoy the rest of your week! I think I'll be dreaming of chalkboards tonight..............!!!!

ReplyDeleteOMG! What a difference! I LIKE!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so wanted this, so went into etsy. I didn't realize how big it was! I need a smaller one, so that is on my to do list this spring.
ReplyDeleteI say an idea of using an oval frame and stringing lace across it to hang earrings on. Have you seen that?
What a great collection of chalkboards! Love that first one and giggled when I saw the "before". What a transformation and yes, I think "HE" would approve.
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous Donna Design!
ReplyDeleteThe frame is beautiful! I need to pay more attention when I am at the auction and a gawdy picture comes up! Look at the frame!
ReplyDeleteYou have been very busy!!! The frames look fabulous. I haven't heard of chalkboard vinyl...interesting!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Donna,
ReplyDeleteI looove the makeover!
You made me laugh with the apology.
Creative hugs,
Anna
Amazing frame makeover! These ornate frames are my favorites of all!
ReplyDeleteIt's so gorgeous!!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me! I've got a killer frame that has an ugly print in it. I bought it thinking I'd take the picture out and just sell the frame. I'll do a chalkboard instead!
ReplyDeleteThat last supper frame was quite the find--it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so pretty, Donna! I especially love the first one....I had to laugh at your comment though...too cute.
ReplyDeleteIs it really heavy? Concerning shipping?
xxoo
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah they look great and I cannot tell that one is not carved wood !! They are so useful too for writing notes ...my husband is always drawing little faces on ours haha...Gail x
ReplyDeleteI have the same frame! It didn't have the last supper though, it had a picture of Jesus with some words in Spanish, I also did a white chalkboard.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! You made the right choice to replace the Last Supper print and make this elegant chalk board. Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteI was taking a big gulp of water when I read the part about the Last Supper and (sorry Jesus) and I nearly spewed water all over my monitor.
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious!!!! Hahaha!
But on a serious note, every one of those ROCK. Great job. Loves dem.
Donna, you do a beautiful job with these...what a transformation!
