A Fun Drab to Fab Makeover!

Hello ladies!  It was another mild and sunny day here at the Chateau.  While I should have been out working in the yard, I was having fun instead playing in my craft room today!  I wanted to show you one of my latest creations.  You can see what it started life out as a few photos down, I didn't want to scare you by using that as an opening shot!  Anyway, I found a set of 4 wooden plaques at a rummage sale last weekend, and quickly snatched them up.  I knew that they could look much better if they had a head to toe makeover!  While I didn't immediately know what I would do with them, I figured inspiration would eventually hit!  Well, I had one of those "Ah Ha!" moments, and soon knew just what I would do!  Now, ideas and inspirations don't always come that easily!  Quite often future projects get stored away in the closet, nearly forgotten, just waiting for that bright idea to hit!  Does that ever happen to you?  Well, you know by now how much I love Mod Podge and glitter! So, I just had to combine those with my other love:  vintage sheet music!

Ok, are you ready to see what the plaques looked like when I first found them?????

Not terrible, but just a bit dated, don't you think?

I knew that I wanted to spell "Noel", so off to Hobby Lobby I went in search of some glittered letters.  Well, I didn't have any luck finding them, but I did end up getting these great chipboard letters, that turned out to be just what I needed!

After painting the plaques cream and distressing them, I added some Ralph Lauren antiquing glaze (of course).  I also wanted to spruce up the gold toned hooks at the top of the plaques.  I removed them (before painting), and used some Rub-n Buff in Antique gold, what a difference that made!

Then I decoupaged the sheet music onto each plaque.  For the letters, I ended up using spray paint in oil rubbed bronze (see I told you before that I spray paint almost everything!  Like the jingle bell you see here!), then dusting with my clear glitter.  Gotta have lots of glitter for the holidays!!

Then I just hot glued each letter on, and added some wonderfully crinkly seam binding to the "N" plaque, as well as a cute jingle bell.

They are going in my Etsy shop.  I want to make some for our house too, now!

The fun thing is they can be hung either all in a row, or like this!
